Wool Batts ~ 16 ounces each

Wool batts from the fleeces of my flock of Jacob Sheep. I process the wool batts myself. After the sheep are sheared I skirt the fleeces which is simply eliminating the bad parts of the wool fleece , then wash each fleece myself. After washing the fleeces and allowing them to dry on a rack in my sewing room, I pick the fleeces by using a hand picker that opens the wool allowing me to run the wool through my wool carder. ( There is a picture above of my wool fleece in a basket with clean and picked wool next to carded wool , and another of the wool in the carder. ) The carder brushes and smooths the wool and the batts are formed after at least 2 runs through my carder , which is hand-cranked.

The wool batts I am selling are gray because they are the black & white spotted wool carded together creating varying shades of gray.

Wool batts can be used to spin wool into yarn , to needle-felt, or as batting in quilts , just the way you'd use any batting in quilts. I also have wool batts on my mattress between the mattress protector and the bottom sheet for a comfortable night's sleep. Try it ~ you'll like it !

The wool batts are about 10" to 18" wide and about 2 " thick. The length of the batts varies but wool is supple and versatile and can be stretched to suit.

1 pound wool batts are $20.00 each.
